Thank you Dad for caring for mom so selflessly during her illness. You made sure she got the best medical care and continued to make her smile. You also kept your sense of humor, which I captured in this photo. Then, you stayed in the hospital with her for over 8 months. You slept on a chair, rarely leaving her side. I shouldn't be surprised, since when I was growing up you were always there for us. I'm grateful for everything you did for mom and us.

Some of my favorite memories were at the Dempsey Farm in Cambridge, NY. In addition to enjoying time spent with Harry & Jenny (my grandparents), I loved the farm and the beautiful country -- but perhaps even more so I loved watching my parents navigate this unfamiliar terrain. We loved walking over to see what Harry was doing. I'm not sure what we were talking about when this picture was taken, but we were happy together. Many years later in this very field, a cow in heat chased my mother into the brook. Both Barbara and the cow were fine. I laugh every time I think of that.
